Writing for Animation (Course Number: FLMB247)
Designed for writers interested in writing for animation. The art of animation requires a special and unique
approach to writing. Do you have a story or an idea for an animated story or series? This workshop will get you
started, teaching you the process necessary to develop your idea and shape it into a viable script. You will learn to
create interesting characters, put them in challenging and dramatic situations, and create suspense and tension.
You will learn how to write an outline, build a three act structure, find plot points to turn the drama, and write
dialogue and action that is unique to animation.
Instructor: Kenn Scott is an award-winning television writer and story editor whose work on sitcoms and
animated shows has been seen on CBC, CTV, Teletoon, Fox, CBS, PBS, BBC, and ITV, as well as in more than 60
countries worldwide. He has been teaching screenwriting to university students for over a decade, and has also
lead writing workshops for the Writers Guild of Canada and the Canadian Film Centre.
