“How to direct a Music Video” (Course Number: FLMB307) The Filmbay Workshop Series 2010 “Pictures in Motion” “How to direct a Music Video” (Course Number: FLMB307) Guerilla-style music videos: from permits to promotion--This workshop deals with the entire process of directing a music video, covering pre-production, production and post-production. Participants will *LEARN earn about getting started, brainstorming & idea gathering techniques, story conception, visualization aesthetics, practical filmmaking tips and other aspects that relate to this specific kind of production. Several sample music videos will be deconstructed and analyzed as well. In addition, funding options and legal aspects, as well as distribution, marketing and promotion are also explored. Special focus is *PLACED ON how to shoot music videos "guerilla style" with only a limited or shoestring budget available. Filmmakers are encouraged to discuss their current projects and works-in-progress in this forum. Instructor: John-Paul has directed music videos, commercials and films in Europe and North America. After establishing his own film production company with his brother in Toronto, he is currently creating a new internet service designed to reach independent filmmakers worldwide.
